The Main Stage tunes will kick off a bit earlier this year at 11:00 am with a collaboration of New Ballet Ensemble (think flamenco) and Opera Memphis (think Carmen) as we celebrate 30 days of Opera in September on the Main Stage. Throughout the day patrons of the Festival will get to be a part of some pop-up Opera singing and some New Ballet jookin which will be happening sporadically all over the Festival grounds. The Main Stage is located in front of Young Avenue Deli.
The Memphis Grizzlies have teamed up with the guys over at Goner Records. Expect to see a wide variety of bands that are on the Goner label and the garage rock scene they love and support. Expect to see some surprise appearances by the Memphis Grizzlies. Enter to win signed promotional items and meet the Grizz and Grizz Girls. The Grizzlies/Goner Stage is located at the intersection of Young Avenue and Meda Street.
The School of Rock will be hosting the stage located in the First Congo Church parking lot. Marc Gurley, owner of the Memphis school and Ken Hall, owner of the Germantown school have partnered to bring us some very talented young people who have already rocked with some of the best in the industry like Alice Cooper and Tom Petty. Bring your family out to enjoy this new venue of music geared toward the youngster in us all.
Cooper Young Festival is the best place to spend this day in September enjoying some kicking music, shopping till you drop, people watching, patio sitting and hanging out with friends. Don’t miss the biggest most anticipated party of the summer located in hip-storic Cooper Young.

School of Rock Stage
For over 15 years, School of Rock has been inspiring kids to rock on stage and in life. We believe the best way to learn music is to play music. We take students from the lesson room to the stage, developing both their confidence and musicianship with programs designed for all skill levels. Founded as a single school in Philadelphia in 1998, School of Rock has grown to over 120 locations in the U.S. and around the world. And in 2012, School of Rock opened in the birthplace of rock n roll with locally owned schools in Memphis and Germantown.
School of Rock teaches guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards, & drums and combines weekly private music lessons and group rehearsals to prepare students to take the stage in front of live audiences in an authentic concert setting.
School of Rock Memphis & School of Rock Germantown have brought more than 60 kids together to rock the 2013 Cooper Young Fest like never before! They’ll be performing the Colors Show – where all songs covered have a color in the song title or artist’s name. So it will be a killer mix of great rock n roll that’s sure to please all.
